Let's celebrate book joy together! I’ve visited schools and libraries across the country and would love to visit yours, too. My goal is to encourage all students, not just future authors or illustrators, to believe in themselves and their ability to create. I hope we can work together!

Large Group Presentations

My presentations take students on my personal journey from a shy, dreamy reader, to a writer with lots of rejections, to a published author. Together, students and I explore the writing process, including setting, perspective, and creating great characters. All presentations include brainstorming plot ideas and practicing revision, as well as a Q&A. I'm happy to present either in person or virtually. I work with grades K-8, and each visit is customized to fit grade level and teacher literacy goals.

Writing Workshops

A Map of My Heart
Every life brims with stories! In this workshop, we’ll draw maps of our own lives. We'll pinpoint places and events close to our hearts, then use those stories as catalysts for personal narrative or fiction. Grades K and up.

Who Said That?
Dialogue is an essential part of a writer’s toolbox. Not only can it convey character and move plot forward--it’s super-fun to write. Students will practice creating dialogue that makes their stories dynamic and authentic, then share their writing in mini-skits. Grades 3 and up.

The Power of Place
Everyone knows strong characters and plots are important, but what about setting? In this workshop, we’ll create settings that are more than just backdrops. After looking at favorite books where setting has a big impact on character, plot and theme, we’ll work on writing and drawing our own powerful places. Grades 3 and up.

Walk in My Shoes
Want to create strong, engaging characters? Start from the ground (or feet!) up. Grades 2 and up.
